Request for Applications for CETI Waiver Program

UNM's Center for Evolutionary and Theoretical Immunology (CETI) is happy to announce a new waiver program which will provide successful applicants funding to use equipment in its core facilities. We wish to highlight in particular the availability of a recently-purchased Illumina NextSeq 500 Gene Sequencer, for rapid whole genome sequencing, gene expression studies, exome analysis and more. Other CETI core equipment includes a Roche 454 Gene Sequencer, Zeiss Axioscope upright fluorescence microscope, Nikon inverted fluorescent microscope, Zeiss confocal microscope and a two-laser Attune flow cytometer. CETI, an NIH-sponsored Center of Biomedical Research Excellence located on UNM’s main campus, supports researchers from the University of New Mexico through direct funding of projects and by providing a variety of research resources and academic opportunities.

Funding

$50,000 will be distributed this funding cycle. The number of awards made will be dependent on the requests received and the research needs of successful applicants. There is a limit of $10,000 per waiver award.

For this round of waiver applications, we are accepting applicants from the University of New Mexico community ONLY. Applicants must be a current employee (faculty, staff, or post-doc) of the University of New Mexico.

Review Process

Applications will be reviewed by CETI’s Steering Committee. Applications will be evaluated for scientific merit and perceived need. Preference will be given to proposals leading to the generation of data to be used as preliminary results for pending federal grant proposals.

Conditions of Award

Awardees will be required to sign a memorandum of agreement as a condition of funding. This memorandum will serve to indicate the recipient will cite CETI and NIGMS in the proper format in any publications stemming from the data generated and to notify CETI of any grant funding applied for and/or awarded using data generated from CETI’s core facilities. Waiver funds must be expended within six months of the award, subject to discussion with CETI if need be.
